FLIGHT TO SUCCESS
Being a commercial pilot, Dean created Flight to Success. Which uses aviation as a foundation to help achieve success. It was designed to help visualize the journey from the start, the journey, the challenges, and finally achieving the success you want in a fun way.
Before you start with any flight you need:
Destination- In flying, if you don’t have a destination you will fly nowhere. In life, it's the same you need to set a place you want to go to.
Next you need a plan
In aviation if you want to fly from Hawaii to Los Angeles a small Cessna 152 will not work, you need the right plane. In life, its the same you need the right knowledge to get you to where you want to go
Preflight - Need to get the aircraft ready
In aviation, it's called a preflight, where we check the aircraft. In life is called mindset.
Start your Engines
In aviation, it means starting the aircraft. Without the engines running the plane is going nowhere. In life means just start-TAKE ACTION. There’s a great saying “You don’t need to be perfect to start, just start and become perfect”
The take off
In aviation, this is when we get on the runway and go full throttle to start flying, but what caused the plane to take off is MOMENTUM In life, it's the same thing we have to take massive action and not stop to get ourselves into an unstoppable mode
Climb phase of flight
In aviation, this is where things can go wrong and become difficult, because of engine or aircraft system issues. In life, it’s the same will happen. Negative people will talk you out if, one small challenge most people just quit.
Cruise phase
In aviation, this is one of the most important parts. This is where we have to watch and make the necessary changes to heading and altitude. If you fly from Los Angeles to Hawaii and you're just 3 degrees off you would miss the islands run out of gas and end up in the water hundreds of miles off course. In life, it's the same. Just because you think you have made it and doing well, if you don’t watch and constantly make changes you will be of course to
Decent Phase of Flight
What goes up also needs to come down. In life it's the same there will be days when things will not go as planned, but it's not what happens that matters but how you react and handle the situation
Landing Phase of Flight
Now we need to get the plane on the ground. But sometimes weather or circumstances will cause us to not be able to land. Causing us to have to do what we call a go-around. A go-around is just that full power and continue flying and do 1 of 2 things.
- Try a different approach
- Fly to our backup airport.
In life its the same if it did not work the 1st time try a different approach, and if that does not work what your plan B
After Landing Phase
Now that we are on the ground in aviation we are not done yet. Planes have after landing caught fire causing damage and even death in the past. So until we are at the gate, with all passengers and crew off we are not done. But once they all are our job is now done, where we go to the hotel get some rest, and do it over again
In life, it is the same. You have not made the full journey until you can walk away and still have the life you want. And if you have not created the wealth or happiness you're looking to create like in aviation, get some rest and keep moving until you get to the place you want to be in life
